Consubstantial with the Father

Consubstantial means "Being of one Substance with the Father by whom all things were made". The premise of Unitarianism is that the elect are consubstantial with God as Christ is consubstantial with God.

The Trinitarian declaration of consubstantiality is that Christ was of one substance with the Father, in such a way that He has inherited certain aspects of the Father – i.e. that He is co-equal and co-eternal.

The assumption that consubstantiality required these attributes to be passed to Christ, together with Omniscience and Omnipotence is a fundamental error of Trinitarianism. Revelation 1:1 shows that God needed to reveal secrets to Christ so that they could be shown to John. After Christ’s death and resurrection, he was not then omniscient, but had to be enlightened by the Father.

Trinitarians want to isolate Christ from the elect, in saying his inheritance and position is different from the inheritance of the elect. This ignores the many Scriptures wherein the elect are termed as co-heirs and brethren with Christ (see Heb 1:1; Gal 4:7, 3:29; Rom 8:14,16,17; Heb 2:11; 1Jn 3:2).

From receipt of the Holy Spirit, which is the power that emanates from God the Father, through Christ, we become the begotten Sons of God. But Christ is the only born (monogenes) Son of God. Christ is bringing many sons to glory. The Host of heaven are also sons of God, as Job declares in Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7.

To say Christ only is consubstantial with God, denies the ability of humans to share also in His divine nature (2Pet 1:4). John 17:11 "that they may be one as we are" meant that the unity Christ shared with God was possible also for the elect.

God’s Holy Spirit, the power that binds the Host and humanity to Him, is the force by which He will one day be "all in all". That is His aim (Ex. 3:14) - the true translation being "I will be what I will become".

By obedience to God’s law, and belief in the saving quality of Christ’s sacrifice; by repentance and receipt of the gift of the Holy Spirit, we partake of His nature, and are consubstantial with the Father, through the operation of the Holy Spirit.

Satan was consubstantial with the Father in the same way that Christ was consubstantial, both being generated by the emanation of the Spirit, as were all the Elohim Host. Satan’s rebellion put him and his followers outside the will of God. They need also to repent and again be one with the Father.

God alone is immortal (1Tim. 6:16), but He will confer immortality on us, consequent to our obedience to His law, in the first resurrection. The capacity for the elect to become spirit beings, theoi or gods or elohim, will be extended to all mankind in the second resurrection, when they shall be born of God, into the Kingdom of God, able to see God as He is (1Jn. 3:2).

We must subject our wills to the will of the Father, as Christ did. He asserted in many Scriptures that He did only what God the Father allowed Him to do, i.e. to speak only His Father’s words, and to perform the tasks the Father had sent him to do.

Christ had freedom of choice in his life on earth. Many think He was programmed only to obey. God knew in His Prescience, that Christ would not fail, but that did not remove free moral agency from Christ, and he exercised his choice in obedience to God’s will, as the elect are to do. By His Prescience, God can also pre-ordain the elect (Rom. 8: 29,30).

The Good News (Gospel) of the Kingdom of God is the knowledge that God is progressively and systematically extending Himself, through the Holy Spirit, to the human race and to the fallen Host, so that He will become "all in all" (1Cor. 15:28, Eph. 4:6).
