Commentary on the Koran: Surah 22 “The Pilgrimage”

Pickthall Translation with biblical quotes from the English Standard Version unless otherwise noted.

Introduction

Surah 22 Al Hajj is given the name “The Pilgrimage” from the assumption that the text in verses 26-38 refers to a pilgrimage to the idolatrous house in Mecca as a central place of worship, which it cannot do. The text actually refers to the Feasts of God of the Bible texts and the requirements of the laws of God. The Churches of God, after the fall of the Temple in 70 CE, saw the dispersion of the Jews. From the move of the church to Ephesus the feasts were kept wherever the church decided that God was to place His hand as the place of worship and that would continue until the Return of the Messiah and the re-establishment of the Temple at Jerusalem. All nations will send their representatives to Jerusalem under the Messiah or the nations will be punished and destroyed (Zech. 14:16-19). Abraham had determined the early place of worship by the naming of the place as Bethel or the House of God.  He also allocated the centrality of worship at Jerusalem with the tithing to Shem as priest of Melchisedek (No. 128).  He also dedicated Beersheba as the “well of the oath” where he swore the oath of the covenant.  God had sworn through the prophet Zechariah that Jerusalem was the centre of worship and would be under the Messiah at his return. Zechariah Chapter 2 shows that the One True God sends the Messiah to Jerusalem to redeem it from the idolaters in the Last Days and the Bible is absolutely clear that the world will be run from there forever as will the universe be run from there after the Second Resurrection and the Great White Throne Judgment (No. 143B). The Prophet also stated that to be the case in the Surah on the “Night Journey” where Jerusalem was made the centre of the faith. The Koran cannot contradict the sheer volume of the Scriptures that state that as fact and thus this supposition by the Meccan idolaters is false and we will explain what the real meaning and intent is during the Surah.

Pickthall holds, from his copy, which is dated from the days of the Ottoman Empire ascribing it to the Al-Madinah period, that is in fact the case. That is quite recent in the period.  However, it is by no means certain as it was located there in order to establish Mecca as the place of Pilgrimage, which it was not. Pickthall holds that verses 11-13, 25-30, 39-41 and 58-60 were all revealed at Al-Madinah. Noldeke agrees with that ascription from the nature of their contents but holds that much of the Surah belongs to the last Beccan period. All of this stems from the assumption that the “pilgrimage” is to be at Mecca, which contradicts Scripture entirely.

That is why the Hadithic writers have to blasphemously claim that the Scriptures have been lost and the current texts must be disregarded.

Let us now examine the texts.

*****

22.1. O mankind! Fear your Lord. Lo! the earthquake of the Hour (of Doom) is a tremendous thing.

22.2. On the day when ye behold it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling and every pregnant one will be delivered of her burden, and thou (Muhammad) wilt see mankind as drunken, yet they will not be drunken, but the Doom of Allah will be strong (upon them).

This reference is to the great Earthquake of the Last Days.

Revelation 11:13 And at that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Revelation 16:18-21 And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. 19The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. 21And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.

Matthew 24:21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.

Luke 21:25-26 "There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. (NASB)

22.3. Among mankind is he who disputeth concerning Allah without knowledge, and followeth each froward devil;

22.4. For him it is decreed that whoso taketh him for friend, he verily will mislead him and will guide him to the punishment of the Flame.

These are they who do not enter the kingdom of God themselves and prevent all those who follow them from doing so. The churches and the faith of the last days are led astray by failure to keep the Doctrines and the Calendar of God correctly.

The texts of Surah 14 have the specific Bible texts dealing with this aspect also (see also below).

Romans 8:7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.

1Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,

1Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

See Revelation 21:8 at ayat 14.18 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 14 (No. Q014).

22.5. O mankind! if ye are in doubt concerning the Resurrection, then lo! We have created you from dust, then from a drop of seed, then from a clot, then from a little lump of flesh shapely and shapeless, that We may make (it) clear for you. And We cause what We will to remain in the  wombs for an appointed time, and afterward We bring you forth as infants, then (give you growth) that ye attain your full strength. And among you there is he who dieth (young), and among you there is he who is brought back to the most abject time of life, so that, after knowledge, he knoweth naught. And thou (Muhammad) seest the earth barren, but when We send down water thereon, it doth thrill and swell and put forth every lovely kind (of growth).

22.6. That is because Allah, He is the Truth and because He quickeneth the dead, and because He is Able to do all things;

22.7. And because the Hour will come, there is no doubt thereof; and because Allah will raise those who are in the graves.

Thus the dead lie in the graves and await the Resurrections, either the First or the Second of Correction or of judgment. No one goes to heaven save he who came down from heaven, the Son of Man (Jn. 3:13).

See John 5:28-29 at ayat 10.4 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 10 (No. Q010).

Psalm 139:13-14 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Job 10:11 You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews.

Daniel 12:2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Isaiah 26:19 Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead.

Romans 8:11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Colossians 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,

John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Job 42:2 “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

22.8. And among mankind is he who disputeth concerning Allah without knowledge or guidance or a scripture giving light,

22.9. Turning away in pride to beguile (men) from the way of Allah. For him in this world is ignominy, and on the Day of Resurrection We make him taste the doom of burning.

22.10. (And unto him it will be said): This is for that which thy two hands have sent before, and because Allah is no oppressor of His slaves.

These are they who claim to be priests and imams that deny the Scriptures and the Laws of God. They will repent or die.

Psalm 49:20 Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.

Proverbs 21:30 No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the LORD.

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. (KJV)

Romans 1:18-22 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

See Revelation 21:8 at ayat 14.18 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 14 (No. Q014).

Psalm 107:17 Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;

1Timothy 5:24 The sins of some people are conspicuous, going before them to judgment, but the sins of others appear later.

See 2Corinthians 5:10 at ayat 14.47 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 14 (No. Q014).

22.11. And among mankind is he who worshippeth Allah upon a narrow marge so that if good befalleth him he is content therewith, but if a trial befalleth him, he falleth away utterly. He loseth both the world and the Hereafter. That is the sheer loss.

22.12. He calleth, beside Allah, unto that which hurteth him not nor benefiteth him. That is the far error.

22.13. He calleth unto him whose harm is nearer than his benefit; verily an evil patron and verily an evil friend!

Mark 8:36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

Matthew 13:21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away.

Jeremiah 10:5 Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field, and they cannot speak; they have to be carried, for they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, neither is it in them to do good.

Psalm 135:15-18 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands. 15They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; 17they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths. 18Those who make them become like them, so do all who trust in them.

2Corinthians 4:4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

See 1Peter 5:8 at ayat 22.4 above.

22.14. Lo! Allah causeth those who believe and do good works to enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow. Lo! Allah doth what He intendeth.

These are the two Gardens of Paradise of the Resurrections of the Dead referred to constantly throughout the Qur’an.

Revelation 3:21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

Isaiah 46:9-10 remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, 10declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,'

See Revelation 20:4-6 at ayat 13.42 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 13 (No. Q013).

22.15. Whoso is wont to think (through envy) that Allah will not give him (Muhammad) victory in the world and the Hereafter (and is enraged at the thought of his victory), let him stretch a rope up to the roof (of his dwelling), and let him hang himself. Then let him see whether his strategy dispelleth that whereat he rageth!

God thus gives to the faithful of the Church of God, the Muhammad, the victory and those opposed will repent or die.

Acts 5:38-39 So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; 39but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice.

Psalm 33:10 The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.

See Daniel 4:35 at ayat 14.20 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 14 (No. Q014).

22.16. Thus We reveal it as plain Revelations, and verily Allah guideth whom He will.

The Scriptures are given to those called by God and they are given understanding through the Holy Spirit as God calls them.

Matthew 13:11 And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

Luke 8:10 he said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’

Romans 9:15 For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."

John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

22.17. Lo! those who believe (this Revelation), and those who are Jews, and the Sabaeans and the Christians and the Magians and the idolaters - Lo! Allah will decide between them on the Day of Resurrection. Lo! Allah is Witness over all things.

Here the Sabaeans are mentioned again in the Scriptures and distinction is made from the Jews and the Trinitarians and the Magians of the East. This is in distinction from the comment of Omar in S20, where he condemns the Prophet as a Sabaean. The Prophet and the church there were Sabbatarians (S3:93 and S4:154).

See also John 5:28-29 at ayat 10.4 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 10 (No. Q010).

Matthew 25:32-34, 41 32Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

41Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Hebrews 4:13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. (NLT)

See Revelation 20:11-15 at ayat 13.5 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 13 (No. Q013).

22.18. Hast thou not seen that unto Allah payeth adoration whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is in the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the hills, and the trees, and the beasts, and many of mankind, while there are many unto whom the doom is justly due. He whom Allah scorneth, there is none to give him honour. Lo! Allah doeth what He will.

This text is directly from Psalm 148:

Psalm 148:1-14 Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights! 2Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! 3Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! 4Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! 5Let them praise the name of the LORD! For he commanded and they were created. 6And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away. 7Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, 8fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word! 9Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! 10Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds! 11Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! 12Young men and maidens together, old men and children! 13Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven. 14He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Praise the LORD!

Job 34:11 For according to the work of a man he will requite him, and according to his ways he will make it befall him. (RSV)

Psalm 115:3
Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.

22.19. These twain (the believers and the disbelievers) are two opponents who contend concerning their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads,
22.20. Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted;

22.21. And for them are hooked rods of iron.

22.22. Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning.

See Revelation 20:11-15 at ayat 13.5 in the Commentary on the Koran: Surah 13 (No. Q013).

Isaiah 66:24 “And they shall go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against me. For their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

22.23. Lo! Allah will cause those who believe and do good works to enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will be allowed armlets of gold, and pearls, and their raiment therein will be silk.

22.24. They are guided unto gentle speech; they are guided unto the path of the Glorious One.

See Revelation 20:4-6 at ayat 13.42 in the Commentary on the Koran: Surah 13 (No. Q013).

Daniel 7:18, 22, 27 18But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, forever and ever.’

22 until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given for the saints of the Most High, and the time came when the saints possessed the kingdom.

27And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High; his kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.’

22.25. Lo! those who disbelieve and bar (men) from the way of Allah and from the Inviolable Place of Worship, which We have appointed for mankind together, the dweller therein and the nomad: whosoever seeketh wrongful partiality therein, him We shall cause to taste a painful doom.

Matthew 23:13 But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.

Isaiah 13:11 I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless.

2Thessalonians 1:8-9  in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

22.26. And (remember) when We prepared for Abraham the place of the (holy) House, saying: Ascribe thou no thing as partner unto Me, and purify My House for those who make the round (thereof) and those who stand and those who bow and make prostration.

Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me.

Exodus 34:14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),

2Chronicles 29:5, 15-16 5and said to them, "Hear me, Levites! Now consecrate yourselves, and consecrate the house of the LORD, the God of your fathers, and carry out the filth from the Holy Place.

15They gathered their brothers and consecrated themselves and went in as the king had commanded, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD. 16The priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD to cleanse it, and they brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it and carried it out to the brook Kidron.

Ezekiel 45:18-19 Thus says the Lord GOD: In the first month, on the first day of the month, you shall take a bull from the herd without blemish, and purify the sanctuary. 19The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, the four corners of the ledge of the altar, and the posts of the gate of the inner court.

22.27. And proclaim unto mankind the pilgrimage. They will come unto thee on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every deep ravine,

22.28. That they may witness things that are of benefit to them, and mention the name of Allah on appointed days over the beast of cattle that He hath bestowed upon them. Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor unfortunate.

22.29. Then let them make an end of their unkemptness and pay their vows and go around the ancient House.

22.30. That (is the command). And whoso magnifieth the sacred things of Allah, it will be well for him in the sight of his Lord. The cattle are lawful unto you save that which hath been told you. So shun the filth of idols, and shun lying speech.

Thus lying and Taqiyya is forbidden to the faith.

These are the festivals of the Lord God Eloah.

Exodus 23:14-17 "Three times in the year you shall keep a feast to me. 15You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. As I commanded you, you shall eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt. None shall appear before me empty-handed. 16You shall keep the Feast of Harvest, of the firstfruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field. You shall keep the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor. 17Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord GOD.

Deuteronomy 16:13-17 You shall keep the Feast of Booths seven days, when you have gathered in the produce from your threshing floor and your winepress. 14You shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns. 15For seven days you shall keep the feast to the LORD your God at the place that the LORD will choose, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful. 16"Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. They shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed. 17Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God that he has given you.

Deuteronomy 14:23-27 And before the LORD your God, in the place that he will choose, to make his name dwell there, you shall eat the tithe of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and flock, that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always. 24And if the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, when the LORD your God blesses you, because the place is too far from you, which the LORD your God chooses, to set his name there, 25then you shall turn it into money and bind up the money in your hand and go to the place that the LORD your God chooses 26and spend the money for whatever you desire—oxen or sheep or wine or strong drink, whatever your appetite craves. And you shall eat there before the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household. 27And you shall not neglect the Levite who is within your towns, for he has no portion or inheritance with you.

The Bible Feasts are tied to the harvests and cannot be cut loose to rotate throughout the year as with the Current Hadithic Calendar (see the paper Hebrew and Islamic Calendar Reconciled (No. 053)).

Read Leviticus 23 for the feast days of God. Reference is made here to food lawful unto you at Deuteronomy 14 and Leviticus 11.

The result of not complying for anyone is to be consigned to the Second Resurrection.

Matthew 5:19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

22.33. Therein are benefits for you for an appointed term; and afterward they are brought for sacrifice unto the ancient House.

The “ancient house” is the Temple of God which is to be restored and, until that return of the Messiah, the Temple of God is the Body of the Messiah who are the elect of the Saints, which Temple we are (1Cor. 3:17).

22.34. And for every nation have We appointed a ritual, that they may mention the name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He hath given them for food; and your God is One God, therefore surrender unto Him. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the humble,

22.35. Whose hearts fear when Allah is mentioned, and the patient of whatever may befall them, and those who establish worship and who spend of that We have bestowed on them.

Deuteronomy 6:4  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our

God, the LORD is one.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 6:6 not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,

Romans 8:4-7 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.

Proverbs 11:25 Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

Acts 20:35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.

22.36. And the camels! We have appointed them among the ceremonies of Allah. Therein ye have much good. So mention the name of Allah over them when they are drawn up in lines. Then when their flanks fall (dead), eat thereof and feed the beggar and the suppliant. Thus have We made them subject unto you, that haply ye may give thanks.

22.37. Their flesh and their food reach not Allah, but the devotion from you reacheth Him. Thus have We made them subject unto you that ye may magnify Allah that He hath guided you. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the good.

22.38. Lo! Allah defendeth those who are true. Lo! Allah loveth not each treacherous ingrate.

Here we see an allowance being made in favour of the desert Arabs whereby the flanks of the camel can be eaten; provided they are the flanks and cut in strips (see also the Food Laws (No. 015) above). This is the only addition to the food laws known to have been made to the texts of Leviticus chapter 11 and Deuteronomy chapter 14 and only to the desert tribes.  Camels, as with the other beasts, have been made subject to man so we too can learn to surrender ourselves to God and give Him thanks.

Allegedly only the absolute poor among the desert tribes of the Arabs may eat the stripped flanks of the camel due to their requests of the prophet. These aspects seem to be highly suspect and perhaps a later addition (cf. also S3:93 to S22.36).

There seems little doubt that S22:36 has a serious problem in that it refers to the sacrifice of camels and their provision to the poor from their sacrifice and the consumption of their flanks (allegedly in strips) by the poor. The Hadithic Muslims use this to justify the sacrifice of camels at Eid. This is contrary to Scripture and elsewhere in the Koran at S3:93. Moreover, God is not a respecter of persons and the Law requires the provision of cattle and clean animals by the rulers of the people for all the people at the Sabbath, New Moons and Feasts. One must consider that this text was a latter addition very much after the Medinan period and perhaps well after the death of the Prophet to justify their slaughter of unclean camels. Some critics of the text think it came from the Ummayad period.

It refers to dire necessity for the poor and destitute and thus no person who is not destitute can eat them in any case no matter how they construe the text.

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

1Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.

1Samuel 2:9 He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might shall a man prevail.

Psalm 97:10 O you who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

22.39. Sanction is given unto those who fight because they have been wronged; and Allah is indeed Able to give them victory;

22.40. Those who have been driven from their homes unjustly only because they said: Our Lord is Allah - For had it not been for Allah's repelling some men by means of others, cloisters and churches and oratories and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is oft mentioned, would assuredly have been pulled down. Verily Allah helpeth one who helpeth Him. Lo! Allah is Strong, Almighty. 22.41. Those who, if We give them power in the land, establish worship and pay the poor-due and enjoin kindness and forbid iniquity. And Allah's is the sequel of events.

Here Allah’ is identified as establishing places of worship as churches or synagogues for the Churches of God and is the same God Eloah as that of the Scriptures (cf. also The Name of God in Islam (No. 054)). Proverbs 30:4 asks who it was that created the worlds.  He asks what is His name and what is His son’s name declare it if you have understanding. Proverbs 30:5 states the name in the next verse “Every word of Eloah is pure.” This word is singular and admits of no plurality whatsoever. The Chaldean was Elahh. The Arabic is Allah’.

Permission to fight back was given to those who had been oppressed wrongly and driven away from their homes for the simple reason that they said that the Almighty was the God. Allah gave them the victory against the unbelievers. Certainly the Almighty God helps those who serve Him for they establish right worship, do good works, and flee from lawlessness. Allah determines the just resolution of all disputes.

Psalm 4:3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.

Psalm 31:23 Love the LORD, all you his saints! The LORD preserves the faithful but abundantly repays the one who acts in pride.

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.

Psalm 33:11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.

We now see the sequence of the prophets declared again and the fact that the sons of Shem denied the prophets all the way to the Sixth century and onwards to the present.

22.42. If they deny thee (Muhammad), even so the folk of Noah, and (the tribes of) A'ad and Thamud, before thee, denied (Our messengers);

22.43. And the folk of Abraham and the folk of Lot;

22.44. (And) the dwellers in Midian. And Moses was denied; but I indulged the disbelievers a long while, then I seized them, and how (terrible) was My abhorrence!

22.45. How many a township have We destroyed while it was sinful, so that it lieth (to this day) in ruins, and (how many) a deserted well and lofty tower!

22.46. Have they not travelled in the land, and have they hearts wherewith to feel and ears wherewith to hear? For indeed it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts, which are within the bosoms, that grow blind.

22.47. And they will bid thee hasten on the Doom, and Allah faileth not His promise, but lo! a Day with Allah is as a thousand years of what ye reckon.

22.48. And how many a township did I suffer long though it was sinful! Then I grasped it. Unto Me is the return.

22.49. Say: O mankind! I am only a plain warner unto you.

The people of the Arabian Prophet like the people of Noah, the tribes A’ad and Thamud, the people of Abraham, the people of Lot, the dwellers of Midian and the folk of Moses all made the lives of their messengers very difficult and did not heed the warnings delivered by the messengers and they were destroyed because they refused to repent and depart from their wicked ways and return to the correct worship of the One True God Allah.

Here we see the prophet tie the time frame of the declarations to the Bible text that a day is but a thousand years unto the Lord as Peter stated in 2Peter 3:8. Thus the Millennial system is the Sabbath rest of the Messiah and is tied to the Covenant of God as the Sabbath which is the Seventh Day (S4:154). No person can claim Salvation under the Covenant and not keep the Sabbath.

All priests and imams or sheiks that teach against the Sabbaths and New Moons and the Feasts of God will be put to death at the return of the Messiah and no one will enter the Millennial system that does not keep them (Isa. 66:23; Zech. 14:16-19).

See 2Chronicles 36:15-16 at ayat 10.39 in Commentary on the Koran: Surah 10 (No. Q010).

2Peter.3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.

2Peter 3:8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Job 34:20-22 In a moment they die; at midnight the people are shaken and pass away, and the mighty are taken away by no human hand. 21"For his eyes are on the ways of a man, and he sees all his steps. 22There is no gloom or deep darkness where evildoers may hide themselves.

2Peter 1:21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

The Almighty God will get you in His own good time. Death will soon overtake you and after that you face the judgement when He raises you back to life.

1Timothy 6:3-4 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. These are the elect or Saints of God who obey the commandments of God and the faith and testimony of Jesus Christ (Rev. 12:17 and 14:12).

22.55. And those who disbelieve will not cease to be in doubt thereof until the Hour come upon them unawares, or there come unto them the doom of a disastrous day.

22.56. The Sovereignty on that day will be Allah's, He will judge between them. Then those who believed and did good works will be in Gardens of Delight,

22.57. While those who disbelieved and denied Our Revelations, for them will be a shameful doom.

Again the Gardens of Paradise of the Resurrections of the Dead are reinforced.

Matthew 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.

Mark 10:29-30 Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, 30who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.

Psalm 103:8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

See Romans 11:33  at ayat 22.52 above.

22.60. That (is so). And whoso hath retaliated with the like of that which he was made to suffer and then hath (again) been wronged, Allah will succour him. Lo! Allah verily is Mild, Forgiving.

Abdullah Yusufali translates verse 60 as follows:- That (is so). And if one has retaliated to no greater extent than the injury he received, and is again set upon inordinately, Allah will help him: for Allah is One that blots out (sins) and forgives (again and again).

Ordinarily we return good for evil when we suffer unjust insults and injuries. Occasionally our human emotions get the better of us and we respond in kind but not to the same extent. If after our retaliation the other party again attacks us even more aggressively by going beyond all reasonable limits then the Almighty God has to respond and come to our aid in spite of all our faults. This is even more so in a time of war.

Psalm 130:3-4 LORD, if you were to record iniquities, Lord, who could remain standing? 4But with you there is forgiveness, so that you may be feared. (ISV)

22.61. That is because Allah maketh the night to pass into the day and maketh the day to pass into the night, and because Allah is Hearer, Seer.

22.62. That is because Allah, He is the True, and that whereon they call instead of Him, it is the false, and because Allah, He is the High, the Great.

Psalm 104:10-15 You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills; 11they give drink to every beast of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 12Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches. 13From your lofty abode you water the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work. 14You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth 15and wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine and bread to strengthen man's heart.

1Chronicles 29:11-12 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. 12Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.

22.65. Hast thou not seen how Allah hath made all that is in the earth subservient unto you? And the ship runneth upon the sea by His command, and He holdeth back the heaven from falling on the earth unless by His leave. Lo! Allah is, for mankind, Full of Pity, Merciful.

22.66. And He it is Who gave you life, then He will cause you to die, and then will give you life (again). Lo! man is verily an ingrate.

Again we see the sequence of life to death and then to life again in the resurrections.  For those of the First Resurrection, the Second Death has no power. Those of the Second Resurrection are subject to the Second Death, if they do not repent.

Psalm 107:31 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!

22.67. Unto each nation have We given sacred rites which they are to perform; so let them not dispute with thee of the matter, but summon thou unto thy Lord. Lo! thou indeed followest right guidance.

In these texts we see the rites of the nations such as marriage and death rituals. The only rituals of the Churches of God are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, without which no person can inherit the kingdom of God.

Leviticus 18:3 You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes.

Amen.

22.68. And if they wrangle with thee, say: Allah is Best Aware of what ye do.

Psalm 33:13-15 The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; 14from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, 15he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds.

22.71. And they worship instead of Allah that for which He hath sent down no warrant, and that whereof they have no knowledge. For evil-doers there is no helper.

22.72. And when Our Revelations are recited unto them, thou knowest the denial in the faces of those who disbelieve; they all but attack those who recite Our Revelations unto them. Say: Shall I proclaim unto you worse than that? The Fire! Allah hath promised it for those who disbelieve. A hapless journey's end!

Thus the rebellious deny the Scriptures and hide the declarations of God as much as they can.  These are they that are to be destroyed, unless they repent.

22.78. And strive for Allah with the endeavour which is His right. He hath chosen you and hath not laid upon you in religion any hardship; the faith of your father Abraham (is yours). He hath named you Muslims of old time and in this (Scripture), that the messenger may be a witness against you, and that ye may be witnesses against mankind. So establish worship, pay the poor-due, and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protecting friend. A blessed Patron and a blessed Helper!
