Introduction
A Very Early Beccan Surah that shows that salvation is
only available to those called and exhorted to good works and who exhort one
another to truth and endurance.
103.1. By
the declining day,
103.2. Lo!
man is a state of loss,
103.3. Save
those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort
one another to endurance.
We are on our downward trail to our grave. Our allotted time will soon come
to an end. The works in this physical life are only toil and trouble. They do
not get us anywhere. We can work hard and accumulate wealth but we cannot
redeem our life. So man is at a total loss. The option available to man is to
pursue the food that leads to eternal life. That option is available to those
called and chosen in this life who can live in compliance with the commandments
and testimonies of God under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
