Sabbath 9/5/45/120
Dear Friends,
Today we complete the Commentary on the Gospel of Luke (F042vi). We have now completed and issued the Commentaries on the Synoptic Gospels. It is not easy to understand the Sign of Jonah from the Synoptic Gospels alone as the additional evidence of the three Passovers is necessary in the Fourth Gospel of John. The extension of the Sign of Jonah is necessary for us to understand the entire sequence as we see in the two papers. The First Phase is understood by a study of Commentary on Jonah (F032) and the paper Sign of Jonah and the History of the Reconstruction of the Temple (No. 013). The full Sign is interrelated with the other prophecies and is understood by a study of the paper Completion of the Sign of Jonah (No. 013B) with the links.
We will further explain the importance of that aspect in the Commentary on The Gospel of John: Introduction and Part I (F043)
This is the only Sign given the church, and the world, in order that they understand what it is that God is to do with mankind and the world through the Messiah. It is therefore critical to an understanding of the Plan of Salvation (No. 001A).
A member of CCG should be able to explain the Sign of Jonah to someone seeking explanation. After the completion of John and the Harmony, we will seek to develop this understanding over Tabernacles.
It is important that we all learn to be better people and better members of the Body of Christ. Learn to love one another, who we have seen, and show thereby that we love God, whom we have not seen (see Love and the Structure of the Law (No. 200)).
