Sabbath 24/12/37/120

Dear Friends,

Next week is a highly unusual event that when it last occurred most importantly set off actions in the Middle East and culminated in the Six Day War.  This week we will look at what happened then and then look at what may well happen now.  In each of these Heavenly Signs Israel was locked in conflict and they fought and lost a major conflict in 70 CE as a result of the Bible Prophecies in Daniel regarding the 70 Weeks of Years and the Sign of Jonah.  That early conflict was in accordance with prophecy and as commenced by Jesus Christ.  See the paper The Sign of Jonah and the History of the Reconstruction of the Temple (No. 013).

These heavenly signs have a deep connection to Bible Prophecy and that aspect is covered in the papers Signs in the Heavens Part I (No. 038A) and the Heavenly Signs of the Sixth Seal in Context (No. 038B).

The first sign in the sequence of the nation of Israel restored was in 1948 in the War for Independence.  That was followed by the Egyptian declaration of Independence in 1953 and then the seizure of the Suez Canal by Egypt under Nasser in 1956.  These sequences commenced from the sequence of the prophecies in the books of Daniel and Ezekiel and as outlined in the Fall of Egypt Part I (No. 036) and the Fall of Egypt Part II (No. 036_2).  The outline is also examined in the papers Commentary on Habbakuk (No. 021H), Commentary on Haggai (No. 021J); and the Oracles of God (No. 184).

The major restoration of Jerusalem to Judah was in the war of 1967 which began a period which was known from the Exodus as the Mourning for Aaron.  It was the thirty day period commenced by the death of Aaron and the placement of the Aaronic priesthood.  In the last days it was represented by the thirty years from the retaking of Jerusalem and the inability of Judah to occupy the Temple Mount.  In the same year from Passover the Churches of God ceased to observe the Passover and Unleavened Bread anywhere in the world for the full eight days and the church rarely kept the Calendar and the Holy Days on the correct days. In 1987 the Measuring of the Temple was declared and in 1994 from 1 Abib the lampstand was reformed and the Old Temple Calendar restored once again under CCG.

In 1997 the End of the Time of the Gentiles occurred and the last Thirty years of the Mourning for Moses commenced.  The Jubilee in 2027 would see the end of the current age and the Messiah would restore the world for the Millennium.

We will go through the events leading up to the Six Day War and the war itself in 1967 and then on the New Moon of 1 Abib we will examine the Yom Kippur War and its time frame and the events of the 40 years allocated to Syria and the Middle East for repentance and what we might now expect from 1 Abib this year.

In 1953 Egypt declared independence.

In 1955, 278 Israelis were killed In Palestinian Fedayeen attacks.

In 1956 on 25 July Suez was seized and nationalised by Egypt under Nasser.

From October 23 to March 1956 the Sinai campaign resulted in a UN Peace Keeping Force and the US guaranteeing Israeli freedom of passage through the Straits of Tiran.

In 15 November 1959 Israel began work on the National Water carrier project.

In January 14-17 1964 the Arab leaders united to plan the destruction of Israel.

In November 1964 Syria began the Arab plan to divert the Headwaters of the Jordan.

From June 1965 to 1967 Nasser, upstaged by Syrian anti Israeli terror, ramps up the threats to Israel.

The New Syrian Baathist Regime sets the destruction of Israel as its primary goal from 23 Feb. 1966.

On July 7 1966 Syria shells Israel and Israel downs a Syrian MIG 21.

On 4 Nov. 1966 Egypt and Syria sign a mutual defence pact. Attacks against Israel sharply increase.

On 13 Nov. 1966 the Samu raid to stop Palestinian terror attacks on Israel badly backfires.

In late November 1966 Hussein of Jordan publicly insults Nasser.

From Jan-April 1967 there were 63 Arab attacks on Israel (Syrian tank fire, mines, more than 200 mortar shells, Palestinian terror attacks) that heightened anxiety in Israel.

On 7 April 1967 Israel responds to intensive Syrian Shelling into the Israeli DMZ.

Jordan and Egypt trade insults in April 1967.

On 13 May 1967 after 14 attacks PM Eshkol of Israel warns Syria of serious retaliation.  The USSR then spreads serious disinformation against Israel in Support of Syria over 13 and 14 May.

On 14 May 1967 Egypt then mobilises thousands of troops in and around the Suez Canal and despite finding no Israeli build up continues to mobilise.

On 16 May Egypt then moves into the Sinai and demands the UN force withdraws.

On 17 May 1967 two Egyptian MIGs fly over Dimona and Israel agonises over its reaction.

On 18 May UN Secretary General U Thant agrees to Egyptian demands to withdraw the UNEF.

On 19 May tens of thousands of Egyptian troops mass in Sinai.

On 22 May as an act of war Egypt closes the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping.

On 23 May President Johnson calls the blockade illegal and disastrous for peace.

From 24 May - 4 June 1967 Six Arab Countries deploy 230,000 troops to positions near Israel’s borders.

On 26 May the US warns Israel not to attack first.

On 27 May Egypt cancels its planned attack on Israel and then on 30 May Jordan and Egypt sign a mutual defence pact.

From 31 May to 4 June the Arabs state that their goal is clear and that is to wipe Israel off the map.

The War.

5 June 1967 Day 1:    On the first day of fighting Israel destroys most of the Egyptian air force. Jordan, Syria and Iraq attack Israel.

6 June 1967 Day 2:   On the second day of fighting the fighting continues on all fronts.

7 June 1967 Day 3: On the third day of fighting Jerusalem is taken and the blockade of the Straits of Tiran is broken.

8 June 1967 Day 4: On the fourth day of fighting Israel consolidates its hold on West Bank.

9 June 1967 Day 5: On the fifth day of fighting Israel and Syria were engaged in heavy fighting on the Golan.

10 June 1967 Day 6: On the sixth day of fighting Israel gained control of the Golan Heights and was in a position to march on Damascus and also on Cairo.

On 1 September at Khartoum the Arab leaders refused to settle for peace.

On 22 November 1967 the UN under Resolution 242 created the land for peace agreement.

Over the previous year up to the Month of Adar hostilities develop and in Abib they are begun in earnest to force total genocide on Israel.  The fact is that the Heavenly Signs begin in 1967 and the hostilities are developed over the Omer count past the Second Passover and to Pentecost.

On 7 June 1967 Jerusalem was taken on what for the Hillel Calendar was 28 Iyar but was in fact 29 Iyar.  In that year there was a total eclipse of the Moon on 24 April.  Their New year was on 11 April but following an intercalation with Adar II. However the proper New Moon occurred on Sunday 9 April at 17:21 which made the Conjunction fall on beginning of 10 April 1967 and thus the true 15 Abib was the Full Moon and hence the eclipse.  Thus the War ended from the New Moon of Sivan.  The period of the Thirty years Mourning for Aaron had begun.  They had Jerusalem but could not access the Temple Mount and had no Temple. It was the Fifth year of the Sixth Cycle of the 119th Jubilee.

The church of God had abandoned the Eight day Passover and Unleavened Bread for the full eight days at this time from 1965 and 1966 and fell into complete apostasy. In 1987 the Temple began to be measured and by 1994 the WCG and their offshoots had lost their authority and their powers.

At Yom Kippur October 6 1973 the Fourth year of the Seventh Cycle the next major war broke out and although the war ended with most countries in 23 October 1973, peace was not settled with Syria until May 1974.  The period of probation then began and lasted to May 2014 when the Syrian wars escalated and the incursions in Iraq expanded.  The Arab spring had reached its peak from Syria and the Revolution in Egypt.  The wars of the end had begun.
