Sabbath Message B 16/4/27/120

Dear Friends,

The following news item from News Ltd. Australia is of significant importance.

It displays the persecution of an SDA woman by the state when her child was taken by a dingo and killed.

No one believed her. Everyone branded her as cultist. Her husband was an SDA minister. It destroyed their marriage and seriously affected her other children. She did four years in gaol until released by a more informed system.

She was destroyed also because she was a Sabbath-keeper. People were willing to believe anything about her and by inference the SDAs and Sabbatarians generally.

There was an inability of the Australian city controlled system to accept that dingos were capable of killing infants. To say to a person in North America that wolves kill infants would have been seen as a statement of fact. The Dingo is the relative of the Asian wolf. Dingos were allowed to roam free around the tourist campsites at what is now the rock Uluru in Australia’s Northern Territory.

In 1986 I spoke with this woman’s lawyers at an SDA meeting and offered to produce expert witnesses that would testify for them that dingos not only can take a child and remove its suits but in fact do just that to rabbits by removing their skins all the time. The bushmen who were expert in that matter are now dead. It was taken no further by the lawyers. I prayed that this woman and her husband would be cleared of the crime and restored. It took almost a complete 19-year time cycle to achieve although she was released from prison that year.

Now we find that four grown men were available and involved to the extent that they were able to conceal the matter. They removed the body of the child. They allowed a woman to be tried and convicted unjustly and allowed her family to be destroyed over 25 years.

Part of the problem in those days was that the political system was tied up with the patronage of the Dingo Society and there was a distinct unwillingness to accept the matter for those reasons.

This shows what false witness can do. It also shows what political bias and an uninformed society can do. The capacity to prosecute must be controlled with the systems we have in place under our common law system. Even then we cannot protect against the evils of frightened people perverting the course of justice.

The withholding of evidence when someone is falsely accused is as bad as producing false witness in testimony to convict.

We should all be aware of this problem

Man says he found Azaria's body
15:15 AEST Sun Jul 4 2004
The mystery of baby Azaria Chamberlain's death almost a quarter of a century ago has been revived with an elderly Melbourne man claiming he found the infant in the jaws of a dingo near Uluru.

The son of Frank Cole, 78, of suburban Pascoe Vale, said his father told him last year that he shot the dingo in 1980 before taking the tiny baby's body back to a campsite he was sharing with three friends.
Mr Cole says he and his mates did not go to the police because they were worried about getting into trouble for having firearms and a dog in a national park.

His son, Don Cole, says his father told him the story for the first time about 14 months ago.
"He wanted to know what he should do," Don Cole said.

Mr Cole junior said he did not know why his father had now chosen to break his silence by making this claim to News Limited newspapers after carrying the secret for nearly 25 years.

My interpretation of it is that it was playing on his mind and he wanted to get it off his chest," he said.
Frank Cole claims he has told Azaria's mother, Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton, that he found the body.
Mr Cole says the group of campers split up and two of them took the body with them.

They had agreed to go to the authorities and tell them they had hit the dingo on the road and then found the baby in its jaws.

But Mr Cole says they never went to the police and the three other men are now dead.
He says he does not know what they did with Azaria's body but believes they brought it back to Melbourne and buried it.

In 1982 the then Lindy Chamberlain was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found her guilty of killing her baby. She was released from jail in 1986.

Her husband Michael was found guilty of being an accessory, but was given a suspended sentence.
In 1988 the convictions against the couple were quashed.

The pair received $1.3 million in compensation from the Northern Territory government in 1992 for wrongful conviction.

Mr Cole says he felt bad as he watched the Chamberlains go through their ordeal but had agreed to keep quiet about his grisly find.

Northern Territory police spokesman said they would investigate the claims.

A spokeswoman for Mrs Chamberlain-Creighton's agent, the Harry M Miller Group, said she had spoken to her about the claims.

As far as Mrs Chamberlain-Creighton was concerned Mr Cole's claims were now a matter for the police, she said.

"She knew about these claims but she certainly hasn't said to (Mr Cole) `don't go to the police'," the spokeswoman said.
